Building A Sustainable Lean Culture

Kim Gallant's team of 600 people support a range of Air Force capabilities in Australia and New Zealand. Kim’s team started on their lean journey 5 years ago. They now understand that true excellence is a lifelong pursuit. Kim will talk about the Airbus journey in Australia, the experiences they have had, the lessons they have learned, and why they remain committed to it. 



With more than 1700 staff at 19 sites across Australia and New Zealand, Airbus Group Australia Pacific has access to the financial strength and expertise of Airbus Helicopters and the Airbus Group. The company is assembling and delivering 47 MRH90 multi-role helicopters for the Australian Army and Navy and supporting 22 Tiger ARH armed reconnaissance helicopters for the Army.  Airbus Group Australia Pacific delivers new Airbus Helicopters machines and supports more than 500 aircraft through a network of local facilities.

In addition to its helicopter capabilities, Airbus Group Australia Pacific maintains the Royal Australian Air Force’s (RAAF) AP-3C Orion reconnaissance aircraft and C-130J Hercules transports. Through the work of subsidiary Safe Air, the Group supports the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s C-130s and P3s while being recognised as a leader in propeller and engine maintenance.

Kim joined Airbus in 2005, after a 25 year career with the Royal Australian Air Force and is now the National Business Improvement Manager.

Kim currently leads the strategic initiative project to develop Lean culture at Airbus sites throughout Australia and New Zealand.

In his presentation Kim Gallant  will talk bout the Airbus Group journey in Australia, the experiences they have had, the lessons they have learned, and why, they remain committed to it.
